Vitanovis Tulsa is excited to invite you on a journey. Travis Crim spent several years in student ministry in Alabama before following a long held passion for acting. On a huge leap of faith, Travis partnered with DASH ministries and moved his family to L.A. to take the gospel to Hollywood and to follow his passion.
What a journey! After our family weathered the initial transition from Sweet Home Alabama to The Concrete Jungle (which was not that bad, praise God!) we set to work on the task at hand. Although most times in life our plans don't ultimately work out exactly the way we think they will, this time they did. We were also acutely aware, in terms of strategy for this ministry, about that little passage in James 4 where Jesus' brother basically says anyone who makes quick, self-centered, unwise plans is a moron. Yeah, kind of wanted to steer clear of that. However, as our efforts began to match our ambitions we now recognize that the realization of our plans is nothing more than an affirmation that they were, indeed, God's plans from the beginning. I have intentionally initiated relationships with and befriended a number of people on television and movie sets, all of which have expressed some kind of interest in spirituality. God has graciously allowed one particular relationship to grow to the degree that the person has gone to church with us and intends on joining our small group Bible Study. Currently, approximately ten to twelve people (all aspiring actors, producers, etc) meet at our apartment every Sunday to dive into God's word and examine truth as it relates to the entertainment industry. We have partnered with one production company (Dean River Productions), are in negotiation with another (Vienna Productions), and have in-roads to Sony, Jerry Bruckheimer Productions, NBC and Warner Brothers for internship opportunities. We feel like we've grabbed a tiger by the tail and we're just hanging on for the ride! Delaine and I are so excited about all the encouraging things that are going on. Mission accomplished? Hardly--but, oh, the work that has begun!
